Hello,
I would love to become a beauty therapist, however due to location and personal circumstances I am unable to travel to college to do a course. I have seen some courses online that are equivalent to an NVQ2, would I be employable as a beauty therapist at the end of the course or would it be a waste of time as it is not an NVQ?
I have plenty of people that I can practice on and could put together a “portfolio” of work – would that help? I don’t want to start the course if no-one in the beauty industry takes distance learning qualifications seriously.
Yes,
If the portfolio was good enough and showed a lot of talent.
Is there any place in Melbourne where i can do a beauty therapy course which doesnt cost so much but is still good

I really want to become a beauty therapist, I work part time to full time hours and i cant quit to do a full time college course because i wont have any money for rent etc, i cant afford to do an evening course either as they cost in the range of £1500 to £2500 for a 30wek course. so i’ve started reserching therapys etc, rading a load of beuaty therapy books just to make myself familiar with things that i might learn. has anyone else had this problem and actually in the end managed to study for it? By the way, i’m 19 years old and dont want to take out a loan. do you have any suggestions on how i can get my dream?
hope this makes sense? xXx
Keep up what you’re doing and I feel with your enthusiasm you’ll make it.
Best of luck
hi
im 22 and left school when i was 16, i was thinking of going back to college to do a beauty course, although i know i will have to pay and i am ok with that can i apply for anything to help me with payment or am i pass the age limit now and just got to pay on my own?
As long as you have your GED and as long as the school participates you can apply for aid from the federal government by completing the application at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. Based on your age you’ll need to provide your parent’s information on the application unless you meet one of the other criteria to be considered an independent student (the questions to determine this are on the application).
I want to go to beauty school and was wondering what i have to do before i go? And is beauty school fun and how much is it and do you make a good amount of money?
No. All you need is your HSD. GED, and making sure it’s the right thing you want to do. Cos. School is fun, But it isn’t all play. It’s like school, You have tests, Classes, Grades, Etc. The cost can range from 10k to 13k, Maybe a little less or more depending on the area you are in. Your Salary can be a good amount, If your good at what you do(You don’t get paid in Cosmetology School.)
okay ;
so my high school doesnt offer any electives in cosmetology and i really want to learn how to cut hair and style it and all sorts of other things. i dont want to wait until i graduate highschool. are there any places in or near san diego that would offer classes?
In the state of California, you can take community college classes at any local college for free during 9th – 12th grade. Its a great thing to take advantage of while you’re in high school (and while it’s still available).
I suggest you check out your local colleges and take class book things to have yourself a look see of any hair styling/cosmetic classes. The only thing you would have to pay is maybe materials fee…who knows.
Good luck
I am wanting to learn hairstyling and cosmetology, but tuition fees in beauty schools are outrageous (around13 thousand $). I have found that a cheapest course would be an online one.

Is it worth the money one would spend and can it lead to getting a liscence and an actual position in a beauty salon?
Would this type of online class help in being accepted in an aprenticeship in a beauty salon?
i think that the only way to learn how to do hair is practice. your gonna need lotsa hands on prac. !!! i wanna be a cosmatologist too (( im goin to a paul mitchell school ))hope this helpss…
What do u think would be the first step in starting this as a small business? I know i would have to apply for different licenses and fill out tax forms, etc….but, what should i do first? i would also have to build a website and of course, purchase the products i would like to sell. I’m just not sure exactly what move to make first to get things going at a good start. Any advice i’m sure will help. thanx!
You can do it! Beauty products just happens to be one of the top selling products online. Write down your step-by-step plan on paper. For example;
1.Create your company name.
2.Register your name.
3.Form your business structure; Sole Proprietorship.
4.Obtain your business/occupational license.
5.Obtain your resellers license (sales tax license).
6.Get signed up with beauty products distributors.
7.Choose which products/product lines you are going to specialize in.
8.Read about the products
9.Decide if you are going to build your own e-store or have it built for you.
10.Choose your domain name with our main keywords in your domain name.
11.Register your domain name
12.Choose a webhost provider and a hosting plan.
13.Choose your web development software.
14.Start building your e-store.
15.Set up your merchant account.
16.Complete your e-store.
17.Promote, market and advertise your e-store.
18.Then wait for the orders to start rollin in.
Of course it’s not that simple but it can be if you just take it one step at a time. Write a simple step-by-step business plan just as you see here. Then follow each step and then scratch it off of your list as you complete it. Before you know it you’ll be taking your first order.
Hope this helps.
